Sunset in the Parc du Peyrou
Beautiful Colors in the Parc du Peyrou

I love Montpellier. It has the sun from the south of France, an amazing and vibrant atmosphere, great city center with arts, historic buildings.

Vibrant all year round, with the summer vibe and its tourist from June til September, and students the rest of the year.

What do you want more?

Some great ideas of things to do, of course. Something different to do than getting a suntan. Something to do when it's raining (even though it doesn't happen often :) ☼ ).

Amazing seesight from

Unicorns Fountain

Behind the Fontaine des Licornes. Cool name for a cool statue. Just behind, by the wooden bench, have a look from the surroundings.

Above the Corum

Get on the top of the Corum building by the stairs. As high as you can.

Jardin du Peyrou

At the end of the Peyrou garden, behind the arch, you'll see the old aqueduct. And a wonderful seesight.

It's a nice park to visit. It's a good place to chill out and to relax. You can sit on a wooden bench, or on the grass with friends with a bottle of wine and some glasses. French style. ;-)

Best spot to sit in the shade

If you'd like to chill, read a book, eat a pic-nic or play ukulele, here are my favorite spots to sit in the shade.

Because sometime you want to sit down and chill in the shade, without having to buy a drink for it.

A touch of nature in the middle of the city

For a taste of nature, head to the beautiful Jardin des Plantes, a botanical garden that offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city.

You could see one or two cats wandering there. I love this beautiful garden, where one can easily have some intimacy to read a book, or play ukulele.

Nearby, you'll find the Parc du Peyrou

Parc du Peyrou

There are many benches there, but it's a very popular space too.

Great to sit on the grass and drink your own beverage too.

You can bring your pétanque set or your mölkki game.

It's a great place to take the most of the hot evenings during summer time.

It's a great place to play ukulele or other instruments.

Unicorns Fountain

Wooden benches behind the unicorns fountain.

It's a great place to sit with a wonderful seesight.

You can also enjoy a drink from a nearby café.

Streets to dwell in and small places to see in and around l'Ecusson

There are many amazing small places you will discover by walking around, in the "Ecusson", Montpellier's town center

L'Écusson is the historic center of Montpellier characterized by its shape outlining an old French shield, similar to a pentagon.

Rue de la Loge

I love walking up this street. There is always some people, smiley people, people on holidays sometimes.

If you love shopping or just hand out nearby, it's a great street to walk through.

Rue de l'Université

With hips of small shops and (sometime relatively inexpensive restaurants, it's a great street walk in and hand around.

Place François Jaumes

Lovely small place in an area with many beautiful street arts. Worth walking around!

Take a coffee or, dine at the Pat Daniel's

The Place de la Com'

That is surely a classic thing to do in Montpellier, but a must-do for sure.

Immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of the city by exploring the stunning Place de la Comédie (or Place de la Com' as called by locals), a vibrant square filled with shops, cafes, and street performers.

Where to drink 1 : Du Thé et des Laines

Great place to sit and chill.

Get surprised by the flavor a natural tea.

You won't get wasted there, you won't binge drink some vodka.

But you will have a nice, friendly time to relax with a quality tea. Cold or hot. Get refreshed or get warm.

Far away from food industry's tea.

Just great natural tea.

With a lovely lady who will be there to welcome you, you'll spend a nice time.

Where to drink 2 : Bar Le Rubuffy and Pub Le Foche

Two bar next to the other, I love the young and friendly atmosphere there.

Where to eat: Pat Daniel's

Everything is about Jack Daniel here.

But, even if it's cooked with Jack Daniel, the alcohol has evaporated, only the taste and the badass stays.

This restaurant is a gem. You have to book if you want to eat there.

It's a one man restaurant, and he does it very well.

He welcomes you with his French accent and his wit.

It's 10 minutes walk from the Place de la Comédie.

You'll spend a great night and eat amazing food.

We've ate there a couple of times, and the food has always been excellent, and the cook/waiter is just an entertaining badass guy that will make your experience there amazing.

Rent a bike : Montpellier to Palavas-les-Flots

From Montpellier to Palavas: a great cycle path along the Lez, also for families to walk on.

It takes most of the railaway path that use to link Montpellier to Palavas-les-Flots.

A bite of History

Don't forget to visit the iconic Montpellier Cathedral Saint Pierre, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture that will leave you in awe.

You can chill and sit nearby with a fresh made juice in hand (at Le Melody).

Then take a stroll through the charming medieval streets of Montpellier's historic center, where you can discover hidden gems, quaint boutiques, and delightful cafés. Montpellier has something for everyone, so get ready for an unforgettable adventure!

Weather you are into Art or not, La Parcelle 473 is definitely something you don't want to miss. A street art museum open in June 2022.

Art enthusiasts will be delighted by the Musée Fabre, which houses an impressive collection of artworks spanning centuries.

Apart from the Musée Fabre, there are numerous amazing museums, like the MO.CO (Montpellier Contemporain), a contemporary art museum.

Visit caves around

Get fresh during summer time and see the marvellous wonders that lay under our feets.

You may need car for that. Or take a bus: there are buses from Montpellier's agglomaration that will lead you there. (However, I have never travaelled there by bus myself).

Wine cellar

Wine producer.

Montpellier has so many wine producers around. Go and see the countryside.

Wear white clothes, as it's often lit by black light inside.

Don't forget to call the venue beforehand, to know what are the best time of the day, and if there are many group booked. You want to start way before when everybody will arrive.

Metal

The Secret Place is definitely the place you'd like to spend the night if you like metal music, or punk music.

There, you'll find great booze and lovely burgers, with a kicker table to play "babyfoot" as we call it here. And you'll do some headbang on some bpms.

You'll need a car to get there.

More music please!
