If the list of mantras feels a little overwhelming, start small.
You do not need to learn a full song straight away.
You can begin with one short mantra, two easy chords, and a very slow rhythm.
The goal is not to be perfect.
The goal is to breathe, strum, sing, and enjoy the repetition.
Start with a mantra that is easy to repeat.
Good beginner choices include Shiva Shambo, So Hum, Om Shanti, or Shalom.
Choose one that feels good to sing.
You do not need to understand every detail at first. Pick a mantra that feels peaceful, simple, and natural in your voice.
Do not start with a difficult chord progression.
For your first mantra, two chords are enough.
Try one of these simple ukulele loops:
Play each chord slowly.
Let the sound ring.
If changing chords feels difficult, stay on one chord for a while. That is completely fine.
Start with one soft down strum.
You can strum once per word, once per breath, or once per chord.
For example, with So Hum, you could strum gently on So, then let Hum relax with your breath.
Do not rush.
The mantra should feel calming, not stressful.
Now add your voice.
Sing softly and slowly.
If you do not have a melody in mind, you can sing the same note at first.
That is perfectly fine.
Mantras were originally prayers or sacred phrases. They do not need to sound like a pop song.
Keeping the melody simple can help you focus on the meaning, the breath, and the feeling of the mantra.
Now repeat the same small loop for a few minutes.
This is where the mantra starts to work.
The repetition helps your hands, your voice, and your breathing settle together.
If you make a mistake, keep going.
Mantras are perfect for beginners because you do not need to restart every time something goes wrong.
You can simply return to the next breath.
If you are using one of my PDF lessons, keep it even simpler.
Look at the chords first.
Then:
You do not need to play the full version straight away.
Start with the easiest version, then make it more beautiful later.
Here is an easy version to try:
Play slowly.
Breathe naturally.
Let the mantra be simple.
